Virtual load balancers are designed to be installed in a virtual private, public, or hybrid cloud environment. They enable load sharing at the application L4/L7 level between different virtual servers, which can also be on the same physical server as the virtual loadbalancer. This reduces the number of HW resources. It also reduces data traffic within the server room/data center between physical servers and other network HW. Virtual loadbalancers speed up the process of setting up/changing services and simplify the operation and management of the virtualized environment. This reduces the overall TCO, i.e. the cost of acquisition and operation.
